How to Optimize Your Instagram Profile
It’s time to imagine your social media feed not just as pictures, but as a strategic step in your sales funnel. Ideally, your social media profile is a place where your target audience becomes loyal clients. Here are a few steps you can take to turn your Instagram grid into one your ideal client can’t stop scrolling through.
Craft Your Bio
Your bio is your very first impression to your target audience - make sure it’s a good one! In 150 characters or less, this is your chance to tell your audience who you are, what makes you unique, what you offer and why they should follow you.
Use SEO
Search engine optimization (SEO) doesn’t have to be complicated to implement on social media. Adding in keywords to your bio and captions about what you do and how you help your ideal customers makes it easier for you to be discovered.
If you’re stuck on what keywords to include, think about what your ideal customers are searching for and incorporate those keywords into your posts.
Upgrade Your Highlights
Don’t skip your highlights! Consider them a virtual portfolio that showcases your experience. Each highlight is an opportunity to demonstrate your authority in your niche and let your followers get to know you. I recommend sharing testimonials, your services, and behind-the-scenes.
Add Pinned Posts
Including pinned posts on your profile is a great way to answer FAQs for your audience before they even ask them! A pinned post is a post that stays at the top of your profile, no matter how many times you post after sharing it.
I encourage business owners to use pinned posts to answer frequently asked questions, provide important information about their product or service, and let your target audience learn about you.
Add a Link in Bio
Instagram only allows one clickable link in your bio. Make sure you decide carefully which link you want to send your audience to. Is it your website, to a free resource, to buy one of your products, or schedule a call for your service? Whatever you choose, make sure it makes sense to someone visiting your profile for the first time. And if you can’t decide, you can use a free service like LinkTree to easily link to multiple places.
There you have it! If you start with these simple steps, you’ll be miles ahead of other business owners. The best part is that you can implement all of these rather quickly. Bookmark this page so you can come back to it when you’re ready to cross them off your to-do list.
If you need help or have any questions about implementing any of these, I’m happy to answer them!
P.S., Don’t get too stuck on the visuals! Here are a few things that matter more than what your Instagram grid looks like.
