A Game-Changing Social Media Tip I’m Obsessed With
As a new mom and business owner, I struggled with balancing my two worlds a lot. When I was on the floor playing with my kids, I was thinking of my work to-do list. When I was working, I was missing my baby. My mind was a constant hamster wheel. I realized this wasn't serving anyone. And I started to be more intentional about being present.
It is STILL something I have to work on every. single. day.
When this is a struggle, I remember this tip:
Be where your feet are.
On an average day that looks like this:
When I wake up I meditate and pray on being present.
When I am feeling pulled in multiple directions, I focus on what is right in front of me.
When I end my work day and go get my kiddos, I am mindful of the transition and have a process to "turn off" work for the day.
I can't think of one thing or area of my life where being truly present hasn't fixed or improved...
In my business.
As a mom.
With anxiety.
With creativity.
It has led to so much more JOY.
How This Applies to Social Media
This works with social media, too. I always recommend business owners set aside time for social media. This could be for creating content and scheduling posts or for checking notifications and scrolling through their feeds. Time blocking your social, setting boundaries, and being intentional with your time online helps keep you from getting pulled down the rabbit hole of notifications.
After you create this schedule (and reduce any friction that might be causing you to not stick to it), you can put away your phone and be fully present when you're with your people or just want to disconnect.
Just know that you don’t have to be online constantly to have a successful social media presence.
Sometimes it's just a simple shift that leads to the biggest results in your business and life.
