Are You Actually Using Your Marketing?
After some recent storms I found a door mailer advertising a free roof after storm damage. I had a friend nearby who had taken advantage of a similar offer and had actually gotten a completely free roof. I decided to reach out for a free estimate. (Something I NEVER do!)
The night I scheduled the estimate, I got a confirmation for the wrong date and time. I then took time out of my Friday night and rescheduled the free visit for a day that wasn’t really the most convenient for me.
The day finally arrives for them to visit. But, two hours after they were supposed to be here, I got a call because they couldn't find my house. It turns out they were actually in the wrong city! After a few phone calls, I was told that I would be expecting a phone call from the company in my city. It was then that I had finally had enough. I told them, “no thanks!”
I just kept thinking about how this company had spent so much time and money on these door mailers printing them and getting them to everyone's house. But they don't have a process or system in place to actually take these new leads and give them a good experience. And they are losing potential customers (like me!).
The lesson here is that whether it's a door mailer or social media, if you're going to spend time on marketing, you need to think about what's actually going to happen once you do get those new leads.
This strategy work is what I love to help business owners with. Not only am I a social media strategist, but I am a marketing strategist who can look at your business holistically and ensure all of your marketing and communications are working together and are on-brand. Social media shouldn’t live in a silo. All of your marketing efforts should be saying the same thing and pushing people further into your funnel. It all matters!
